Angela Lyons, 80, Of New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Angela Vigilante Lyons, a New Canaan resident and a former longtime Norwalk resident, died on Thursday, Jan. 28. She was 80.

Born in Norwalk, Lyons lived in Norwalk for most of her life, later moving to New Canaan. She attended St. Joseph School and was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy.

Lyons was a retired bookkeeper for various local companies and a justice of the peace. She was involved in many organizations and was a member of the Norwalk Evening Women's Club, the Young Republicans and the Sons of Italy.

She is survived by her former husband, Daniel James Lyons Sr. of Norwalk; their four children, Veronica Lyons Ready and husband Scott of New Canaan, Darren Lyons of New Canaan, Jim Sr. and wife Lori Jakob Lyons of Norwalk, and Dan Lyons Jr. of Norwalk; grandchildren Erica Lyons DePalma, Jim Lyons Jr., Elyse Lyons, Shane Ready, Patrick Lyons, Tori Ready and Marlee Ready; great-grandchildren Jameson and Brooklyn DePalma, and Kelsey Lyons; brother Frank Vigilante and wife Jane of Stamford; sister Patricia Vigilante Pirrone and husband Terry of Norwalk; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lyons was predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Grace Piccirillo Vigilante.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
