NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Craig L. Lyons of East Falmouth, Mass., and formerly of New Canaan, died Oct. 1 at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, Mass. He was 71.
The son of Stephen H. and Marjory Lyons, he was born and raised in Scarsdale, N.Y. Lyons graduated from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., where he met and married his wife of 50 years, Lesly Campbell Lyons.
He worked as a sales executive in the paper industry for more than 30 years and lived with his family in New Canaan for more than 20. Lyons was a board member of the Exchange Club and New Canaan Boys Baseball. He was the president of the Town Players and an active member of St. Aloysius Parish.
Lyons retired to the Lochstead Community in Hatchville, Mass., where he was the president of the Homeowners Association. He volunteered in Falmouth, leading the volunteers for Pops Goes Summer and Fireworks. He also volunteered weekly reading to children in the Head Start Program.
He is survived by his wife, Lesly; three children, Marette (John) Power, of West Falmouth, Craig (Joy) Lyons Jr., of Vancouver, Wash., and Scott Lyons, of Elkhorn, Wis.; a brother, Stephen Lyons, of Clearwater, Fla.; and six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in West Falmouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in North Falmouth, Mass. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Falmouth.
