Duffy was born May 7, 1935, in Baltimore to G. Lloyd and Dorothy Williams Bunting. She attended Maryvale High School and Trinity College in Washington, D.C. After her marriage, she lived with her husband in Virginia, first in Falls Church and then in McLean.
She received her Montessori training at The Washington Montessori Institute. She founded, directed and taught at the Ridgemont Montessori School of McLean. She was on the board of directors of Oakcrest School for more than 20 years.
Duffy is survived by her husband, Joseph John Duffy Jr.; daughter, Mary Ellen Kranzlin of New Canaan; five grandchildren; and sister, Mary Catherine Bunting; and brother, George (Anne) Bunting of Baltimore. She was predeceased by her parents.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Ruck Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 200 Ware Ave., Towson. Interment will follow at Druid Ridge Cemetery, 7900 Park Heights Ave., Baltimore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Oakcrest School, 850 Balls Hill Road, McLean, VA 22101 or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Collins Funeral Home in Norwalk, and Ruck Funeral Home in Towson.
