Horace Edgar Bowler, 92, Formerly Of New Canaan, Merchant Marine

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Horace Edgar Bowler (Pope), formerly of New Canaan, died Tuesday, Feb. 19. He was 92.

Bowler was born in New York City, Dec. 31, 1920, where he grew up. He later lived in New Canaan for more than 50 years. He and his daughter relocated to Arizona in 2000. He was a United States Merchant Marine during World War II and traveled all over the world. He went on to travel around the world seven times. After the war, he settled down in New Canaan. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bowler is survived by his daughter, Lillian; two grandsons; four great grandchildren.

A private family celebration of life will be held this spring.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Horace E. Bowler, to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.
