NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Joseph C. Florentine of Hobe Sound, Fla., formerly of New Canaan, died on Jan. 2. He was 76.
He was born in Stamford on Sept. 30, 1938 to Samuel and Mary D'Andrea Florentine.
He served in the Navy in the late 1950s after graduating from Stamford High School. He recently retired from the Sheriff's Department in Martin County, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his two daughters: Lisa Florentine (Chris Bartlett) of Weston, Connecticut; and Mary Beth Florentine (Paolo Orlando) of Hobe Sound; four granddaughters; two sisters from New Jersey; a stepdaughter, Tracy Paustian (Bryan); and two step-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Cemetery Chapel at the Mausoleum, Springdale, Conn. Memorial donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
