Lindsey Reiniger, 25, Of New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Lindsey Anne Harper Reiniger died on Monday, Jan. 5. She was 25.

She was born on July 9, 1989 to Barbara and Haigh Reiniger in Boston, where she resided until 1995, when she and her mother moved to New Canaan.

Reiniger attended the New Canaan schools through her sophomore year and then transferred to the Academic Magnet High School in Charleston, S.C. She received her high school diploma from Rippowam High School.

Reiniger was a gifted linguist. During her freshman year, Reiniger placed third highest in a statewide French writing and speaking proficiency exam. Placing fourth in her sophomore year, Lindsey received a scholarship award from the World Affairs Forum to study in France that summer. 

Reiniger also was a gifted artist and musician, who was happiest while painting, drawing or strumming her electric guitar. Her artistic talents were recognized early when she was selected in elementary school to be enrolled at the Saxe Middle School's "Challenge in Arts Program." Her high school class named her "Most Artistic Student."

At the time of her passing, she was pursuing a career to help others through nursing by attending Norwalk Community College. While studying, she worked part-time at Scotts Corner Market in Pound Ridge. 

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Minor Reiniger, of New Canaan and her father, Haigh Scott Reiniger, of Edgefield, S.C. Reiniger is also survived by her maternal grandfather and his wife, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Minor, and paternal grandparents, Anne and Haigh Reiniger. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. at the Stanwich Congregational Church, 202 Taconic Road in Greenwich.
