Giraldi was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Boonton, N.J., to Halsey and Hazel McCarthy. Giraldi raised her children in Chappaqua, where she owned and operated Penny Auntie 5&10, a beloved candy store where friends congregated to share in her warmth and hospitality.
Giraldi was most fulfilled when she entertained, hosting wonderful family gatherings during cherished holidays. She spent many winters in Highland Beach, Fla. Most recently, Giraldi lived in New Canaan, where she spent her days loving and being actively involved with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Theresa, Bobby and Maria, and seven grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, followed by a reception at the Roger Sherman Inn, New Canaan. All are welcome to attend. During her last few days, it was her vision to see all of her loved ones gather to celebrate her life wearing light colors. For online condolences and directions, visit www.Hoytfuneralhome.com.
