Mary J. Rinaldi, 98, Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Mary J. Rinaldi, of Stamford, died Monday, April 4, at the Waveny Life Care Center in New Canaan. She was 98.

She was born in Stamford on July 23, 1917, to Raffaele and Philip Mercede.

She worked for many years at the Yale & Town in Stamford. She then pursued a career in banking at the State National Bank of Connecticut. 

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. 

She and her husband, Harry, retired to Florida, and lived there for 25 years. They moved back to Stamford 20 years ago and enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for the family and giving away her cookies to the grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Yeagley and her husband, Larrie, and Jane Vigilante and her husband, Frank; five grandchildren, Lisa LoRusso and her husband, Richard, Gina Ventre and her husband, Gerald, Dana Glander and her husband, Robert, Michael Vigilante and his wife, Susan, and Christopher Vigilante and his wife, Adrienne; and 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and her extended family, Richard E. Gabriele.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Rinaldi; her brothers, Frank, Daniel, Nicolas, John, Michael and Anthony; and her sister, Angelina.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Waveny Life Care Center.
