Firefighters responded to the three-story home at 266 Range Road before 9 a.m. after a passing motorist reported the blaze, the Bulletin said. No one was home at the time of the blaze, fire officials said.

Firefighters from other towns -- including New Canaan, Westport, Weston, Georgetown, West Redding and Norwalk -- also went to the scene to help battle the blaze.

Westport's units operated at the scene for nearly four hours until the fire was brought under control.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the fire  marshal.
