On Wednesday morning, detectives arrested Anthony Reeves, 34, of Trumbull Avenue, in connection with the June 7 death of Jason Nieves.

"Reeves allegedly shot Nieves twice while they were in a stolen car at the corner of Houston Ave and Dodd Ave.," Lt. Christopher LaMaine said in a statement.

"Nieves' body remained in the car for several hours until Reeves returned with Larry Tinsley, and they set the car and Nieves on fire," LaMaine said.

At a court appearance Wednesday, Reeves and Nieves were characterized as partners in a drug operation, according to the Connecticut Post.

Reeves was charged with murder, second-degree conspiracy to commit arson, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and third-degree larceny.

Reeves is also awaiting trial on charges of shooting at his pregnant girlfriend on June 12, the Post said.

Tinsley told police he agreed to pour the gas on the car, but said that he walked away afterward and that Reeves set the car on fire, according to police.

Tinsley, 62, was arrested earlier this month and charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree arson and held on $250,000 bond.

"Thank you to all the officers and detectives that worked on this case, which was led by Detective Martin Heanue," LaMaine said.

There have been 19 homicides this year in Bridgeport.
