Bridgeport Man Stopped With Loaded Gun, Ammo And Drugs In Car

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man pulled over for a windshield violation on Thursday was found to have a loaded gun, as well as crack, marijuana, cocaine and a backpack full of ammunition, according to police.

State police said that at around 4:15 p.m., troopers were conducting motor vehicle enforcement on I-95 in Bridgeport when they saw a vehicle with a windshield violation. The car was stopped on Lafayette Street in Bridgeport, and troopers saw the driver reach under the front seat, according to police.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Rodney Crawley of Bridgeport, was removed from the car and patted down, at which point troopers found a loaded .380 caliber handgun, police said. He was taken into custody and searched, and officers found 148 bags of crack, 11 bags of marijuana, 10 bags of cocaine and two suboxone strips, police said.

A backpack was found in Crawley's car that contained 55 shotgun shells, 190 7.62 millimeter rounds, 58 9 millimeter rounds, a silencer, three empty Glock 9 millimeter magazines, two .22LR magazines and two 25 shot high-capacity magazines, according to police.

Crawley was taken to Troop G in Bridgeport, where another nine bags of crack and one bag of cocaine were found on him, police said. The total weight of the crack was 15.9 grams, the total weight of cocaine was 5 grams, and the total weight of marijuana was 5.8 grams, according to police.

Crawley was charged with illegal possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of a large capacity magazine, possession of a sawed-off shotgun or silencer, criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension, and windshield/obstructed view. 

He was held on a $300,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
