Officers responded to a Meadowbrook Road home at about 4:30 p.m. Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive elderly male at the bottom of a pool, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers immediately entered the pool and removed the man from 6 feet of water. It is unknown how long he had been submerged, however, he was not breathing and had no pulse, police said.
Officers began CPR for several minutes until Darien EMS arrived, police said. The man was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Tuesday, police said.
Police said that the man died as a result of his injuries at about noon Wednesday. The name of the victim was withheld by police.
