The woman, 39-year-old Arlene Kalphat, is a resident of Waterbury, Conn., police said. She was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny and second-degree forgery, both of which are felonies.

Police claim that over a month, Kalphat made daily cash withdrawals by using the man's debit card. She is also accused of stealing checks from the patient, police said. Kalphat then forged signatures on the checks in order to cash them at Bank of America, police claim.

Kalphat is due back in Pound Ridge Justice Court on Oct. 17, police added.
