The crash took place around 2 a.m. Sunday south of Exit 3 in Greenwich when Nathan Arturo Herrera-Donalre, 27, of Stamford, was traveling southbound and lost control of his vehicle, struck the metal guardrail, rolled over and then hit the right shoulder before rolling down an embankment and striking trees, state police said.

Greenwich fire responders were called out and Herrera-Donalre was transported to Stamford Hospital for treatment, state police said.

As a precaution, first responders, including Greenwich scuba divers, conducted a search for any passengers who might have been thrown from the vehicle.

The search did not find any other victims.

State police said enforcement action is pending and the crash is under investigation.
