NORWALK, Conn. — A 27-year-old Stamford resident was charged with driving under the influence and threatening officers after he rear-ended a cop car on Sunday, according to the Hour.

Police told the Hour that a sergeant was sitting in a patrol car on Washington Street at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday when he was rear-ended by a PT Cruiser. Police said that the driver, 27-year-old Ashton Thevenin, had slurred speech and glassy eyes, and that he was belligerent and refused to complete a sobriety test, according to the Hour.

Thevenin approached one of the officers in an aggressive manner during the encounter, and resisted being walked to a police car, according to the Hour. As a result, he was taken to the ground by officers, the Hour reported.

While on the way to police headquarters, he swore and used racial slurs while ranting to the officers, police told the Hour. At one point he told an officer that he knew his name and would find out where he lived, the Hour reported.

Thevenin was charged with operating under the influence, second-degree threatening, following too closely and interfering with an officer. He was given a $7,500 bond and a court date of Aug. 30.
