NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A Bridgeport man accused of stealing a lawnmower that was supposed to be moved to New Jersey is facing a larceny charge from New Canaan Police.
Wilfredo Matias, 37, of Vine Street, Bridgeport, was charged Wednesday, Nov. 22, with fifth-degree larceny. New Canaan Police picked him up after Trumbull Police arrested him on a warrant.
Police arrested Matias in connection with the theft of a Honda lawnmower that was supposed to be taken from a New Norwalk Road residence to a location in New Jersey. Police said the owner of Starlight Construction hired Matias on Sept. 2 for the move and the mower, valued at $650, never arrived in New Jersey. Police said the lawnmower has not been recovered.
Matias was released and is scheduled to appear Dec. 3 in Norwalk Superior Court.
