The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a report of a person possibly struck by a train just east of the train station at 3:10 a.m. Sunday. When firefighters arrived, they found a man in his 20s on the tracks behind 93 Washington Street alongside the fourth car of the northbound passenger train. Fire officials said it is unknown if the man was struck by the train or fell to the ground to receive only minor injuries.
Firefighters used an extension ladder, rescue basket and rigging to remove the man from the 30-foot embankment of the tracks. He was then transported to Norwalk Hospital.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 3:45 a.m. Norwalk police and Metro-North police responded to the scene and Metro-North police are investigating the incident.
