Officers were dispatched to the home at 17 Goodwives River Road after an anonymous tip reported that an underage drinking party was underway at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25, police said.
Officers found 13 young women between the ages of 17 and 19 at the home, police said.
Nineteen-year-old resident Alexandra Barnard initially told officers that she had provided the alcoholic beverages but then retracted the statement and said the guests had brought it, police said.
Several text messages were voluntarily shown to officers supporting the fact that alcohol was brought to the home by some of the underage guests, police said.
One guest showed officers a text message from Alexandra Barnard saying that her mother, Lendy R. Donnelly, 49, was “okay” with the party, police said.
Donnelly denied any knowledge of that underage drinking was occurring and stated that did she not permit it, police said.
Ample evidence of alcohol consumption was observed on scene, police said, including open bottles of wine and champagne. Numerous plastic cups and other glasses were seen as well, police said.
Barnard was charged with permitting minors to possess alcohol, a misdemeanor, and Donnelly was charged with failing to halt the possession of alcohol by minors, a misdemeanor, police said.
Each was issued a summons with a court date of July 6 in Stamford Superior Court.
All the other teenagers at the party were turned over to parents or other responsible adults, police said.
