Police had arrested 58-year-old Mark Lynch in November after his son, Christopher Lynch, had fatally overdosed in September at the age of 25, according to police. Mark Lynch had told officers that he had given his son heroin the night before, though he later retracted that statement, according to police.
Christopher Lynch had struggled with drug addiction, but at the time of his death had been attending treatment in an effort to turn his life around, according to police.

Lynch had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but on Friday he withdrew that plea and pleaded not guilty to negligent manslaughter and sale of narcotics, according to the Stamford Advocate. He is scheduled to be sentenced to three years in prison on Dec. 15, to be followed by seven years of special parole, the Stamford Advocate reported.
