NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A 17-year-old girl is facing DUI and other charges after being pulled over by New Canaan Police early Sunday morning.
Police charged the New Canaan resident with driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, and failure to obey the signal of an office and failure to drive right, motor vehicle violations. Police did not release her name because of her age. She was also issued verbal warnings for not carrying a driver’s license or insurance card. Police said the teen was seen about 1:30 a.m., Sunday, traveling north on Huckleberry Hill Road and she was partially in the southbound lane where an officer’s vehicle was. The officer followed the vehicle and turned on his overhead lights to signal a stop, but the vehicle kept traveling, police said. The woman’s car made an abrupt turn onto Huckleberry Hill Road and finally came to a stop. Police said the driver was slow to respond to questions and appeared to be confused and that the smell of alcohol was evident in the vehicle. The driver was given a field sobriety test and then charged, police said. She was released on $260 bond and is scheduled to appea in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 29.
