NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A New Canaan man who rolled his car over and decided to just walk home back in April was arrested on drunken driving charges, according to police.
Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 23, New Canaan Police were dispatched to the scene of a single car crash on West Road near Lost District Road. When police arrived, they found the car was rolled over and unoccupied, and the driver was not at the scene.
Officers eventually found the driver, 27-year-old Bryson Wilson in the 1800 block of Ponus Ridge Road as he was walking to his home on Four Winds Lane, police said. While they were speaking with him, they detected the odor of alcohol and he displayed signs of intoxication, according to police.
Based on the extent of damage to Wilson's car, he was taken to Norwalk Hospital by ambulance for evaluation of possible injuries. A search warrant for his blood determined that he had a BAC of .20, according to police.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Wilson turned himself in to police on Tuesday, June 20. He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right and evading responsibility. He posted a $1,000 bond and will appear in court on June 30.
