NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A 23-year-old man who drove away from an accident scene was chased down and arrested by New Canaan officers on Oct. 5, police said.
Charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, interfering with an officer and second-degree threatening was Alexander L. Hartley, of 10 Snowberry Lane, New Canaan.
He was released on $500 bond and his first scheduled court date is Oct. 14.
Police said they were called to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident just before 5 p.m. Oct. 5 in the area of Park and Cherry streets.
Officers spoke with both drivers and discovered what they believed was the odor of alcohol on the breath of Hartley, police said. At some point, Hartley fled in his car, police said. He was eventually caught and taken into custody in Mead Park, police said.
There was no information on whether there were any injuries in the crash.
