New Canaan Police Arrest Suspect In Electronics Theft After Foot Chase

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan police arrested a town man after a foot chase after he stole a bluetooth speaker from a Radio Shack on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Dean A. Tarchoun, 19, of 176 Logan Road, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, interfering with an officer and second-degree criminal trover. Criminal trover refers to when a person uses the personal property of another without consent and damages or diminishes the value of it. His bond was set at $1,000.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers were called on a report of the theft of a $450 bluetooth speaker from the Radio Shack on Park Street, police said. Officers located the suspect, who then tried to flee on foot but was apprehended on Cherry Street, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.

Tarchoun is scheduled to appear in court on July 26.
