NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A Stamford man who advertised painting services on Craigslist was arrested after police said a New Canaan resident hired him for a job that he never started.
The New Canaan resident responded to an ad posted by 53-year-old Wesley Kendall in August of 2015 and hired him to perform painting services at his home, police said. The two signed a contract, and the homeowner paid Kendall a deposit of $1,900. According to police, Kendall cashed the check but never performed any service.
The resident reported the matter to police in December of 2015, and a warrant was issued for Kendall's arrest. On Wednesday, New Canaan Police traveled to the Stamford Police Department and took Kendall into custody. He was charged with fourth-degree larceny, offering home improvement without a certificate of registration, and violation of notice of sales agreement. He was held on a $1,900 bond and taken to court that day.
