New Canaan Woman Charged With DWI Following Crash

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A New Canaan woman was charged with drunken driving after police said she crashed her car, which then caught fire, on Wednesday, according to the Stamford Advocate.

According to police, Susan Higgins, 51, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to keep right on a curve/hill, following the accident on West Road near Turtleback Road. By the time firefighters arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames on the side of the road, said the Stamford Advocate.

Higgins, who allegedly refused a breath test, was released on $250 bond, police said. She is due to appear in court Tuesday, April 26, added the Stamford Advocate.
