Two victims told police they were confronted by a short man in a denim jacket on Silvermine Avenue near New Canaan Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. The man claimed he had a gun and demanded their money, and left with $80 cash, according to the victims’ report.
A Norwalk Police officer found a man matching the suspect’s description on New Canaan Avenue just north of the crime scene, police said. Mario Pena, 35, of Felix Lane was identified as the suspect by the two victims, according to the arrest report.
Pena denied threatening the two, and told police that he had just asked them for money to buy food, according to police reports. He did not have a gun or any other weapons on him when he was arrested, police said.
Pena was charged with second-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was held on $3,000 bond, and is due in court on March 31.
