Norwalk Cafe Owner Charged With Possession Of Gambling Machine

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man who disavowed responsibility for a gambling machine found in his restaurant was arrested Thursday, Norwalk police say.

George Pamkoukidis, 51, of 89 Strawberry Hill Ave., was charged with seizure of gambling device.

Norwalk police said they found the illegal gambling machine at the Athen's Café at 141 Main St. as they were assisting the state Liquor Control Division in inspecting Norwalk businesses, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. Pamkoukidis said it wasn't his, she said. It was in the basement when he bought the place, he said, according to Cotto.

Police told Pamkoukidis that the machine was illegal and would be seized, Cotto said. Pamkoukidis removed the lock on the machine and took the cash out.Bond was set at $1,500.

Also on the police blotter:

• A Thursday afternoon report of shots fired turned out to be two men drinking beer and shooting the empty Corona bottles in the back yard with a BB gun, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.

Police confiscated the guns and charged the men with causing a public disturbance, Cotto said.
