NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk man suspected of stealing a leaf blower from a landscaping crew Thursday was arrested by a Norwalk Police officer who recognized the description of the suspect's car, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.
The landscaper told police he and a co-worker had been cutting grass at two houses on Woodchuck Lane and left two leaf blowers sitting by their truck. One, a Redmax blower worth $400 to $500, was missing when they returned.
A witness said he saw a Nissan Altima circle the block and watched as a man got out and took the leaf blower, Cotto said. He got a partial plate number. Police put out a be-on-the-lookout alert.
Officer Richard Montanez said the vehicle sounded familiar, like one that belonged to a guy on Vollmer Avenue, Cotto said. He went there and found the car in the driveway. Christopher Rodia, 43, of 19 Vollmer Ave., eventually admitted taking the leaf blower and selling it to someone in South Norwalk. Police found the buyer and got the leaf blower back.
Rodia was charged with larceny sixth degree. Bond was $10,000.
