At around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Darien Police were notified of an attempted burglary at a home on McCrea Lane. The homeowner said she was at home alone when she heard the doorbell ring several times and a noise coming from the first floor. She looked out the window and saw a white van parked in her driveway, and din't recognize it. She looked in the backyard and saw a man looking into a rear window of the house.

After a short time, the man returned to his van. Before it left, the resident was able to get a picture of it, police said. Once it was gone, she went to the first floor where she saw damage to a window in the area where the man had been standing, police said. The window had been closed, but it was now open, according to police. She then called 911.

Responding officers sent out the van's description and license plate to surrounding towns, and shortly thereafter Norwalk Police located the van and had the two suspects in custody.

A search of the van turned up a large kitchen knife with an 8-inch blade, as well as items that were determined to be proceeds from a burglary that had taken place the day before in New Canaan.

The two suspects were identified as 29-year-old Marlo Aguirre of Norwalk and 35-year-old Siuni Bonilla of Norwalk. They were both charged with second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, and Aguirre was additionally charged with weapons in a motor vehicle. They were held on $15,000 bonds and will appear in court on Aug. 28.
