Mikenley St. Victor, 23, of 11 Oak St., and Zakary Joseph, 21, of 26 Fairfield Ave., were riding in St. Victor’s white Acura at about 6 p.m. on Martin Luther King Drive when officers saw them speed up and turn onto Washington Street, according to Norwalk Police Sgt. Lisa Cotto.
Police followed them and the pair quickly turned on to Madison Street and into the Klaff’s parking lot off Madison.
Officers approached the car and smelled marijuana, Cotto said, and after searching the two and the car, they discovered that Joseph was carrying a Bersa .380 automatic handgun, with the serial number filed down, and a small amount of marijuana.
St. Victor also was carrying a small amount of marijuana, and officers found a machete in the trunk of his car, Cotto said.
Additionally, Joseph was carrying a red bandana and red and black beaded, and woven, jewelry, which Cotto said may indicate his involvement with the “Bloods” gang.
Police charged Joseph withcarrying a gun without a permit; possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia; carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle and altering the ID of a gun, all misdemeanors. St. Victor was charged with carrying a weapon in a motor vehicle, and the same narcotics charges, and failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to carry registration and an insurance card. He was also charged with larceny and issuing a bad check in connection with a past warrant.
Both posted bonds and are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Nov. 1.
