At about 2:15 p.m., a Norwalk Police Department Special Services officer was driving on Monroe Street where police headquarters is located when he saw two vehicles almost hit two men who had walked into the street without using the crosswalk, police said.
He told both men to use the crosswalk for their own safety, but then noticed that one man appeared to be nervous and looked as if he would flee the scene, said Lt. Terry Blake.
Blake said the man consented to a search, and the officer discovered that he appeared to have hidden something in his pants, police said. He was taken to the police station and two bags containing what police said were 26 rocks of crack cocaine totaling 7.5 grams were found in his underwear, police said.
A small amount of marijuana was also found rolled up in a tissue, Blake said.
Terrick Vanlierop, 25, of 65 James St., Bridgeport, was charged with five drug offenses and was also ticketed on a charge of use of highways by a pedestrian. His bond was set at $100,000. His first scheduled court date is Feb. 1.
The other man was released as police didn't find anything in his possession after a search.
