Omar Osvaldo Maya Mejia, 22, of no fixed address, is also facing a trip to Texas after U.S. Marshals notified police that there was a warrant for his arrest in an incident in that state.

In Norwalk, he's charged with second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer and second-degree criminal mischief. The bond for those charges was set at $5,000.

He was also held on $500,000 bond as a fugitive from justice.

Police said Mejia was ejected from El Mexicano Restaurant at about 1:30 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they advised Mejia to leave the area, police said.

But instead of heeding that advice, he dropped to his knees and started muttering "Under God" in Spanish, Lt. Terry Blake said.

Another man tried to make him leave, but Mejia refused and instead began punching himself and then slammed his head into the glass window of the nearby OT Florist shop at 18 Wall St., police said.

He took off running toward the train tracks but was found hiding beside the tracks by officers and taken into custody, police said.
