Keep all pets away from fireworks displays. Secure your pets inside during fireworks displays. Put the radio or television on to distract them from hearing fireworks.

Do not play fetch with fireworks, Norwalk Police warn. They can severely injure or kill your pets when they explode.

Loud noise phobias can cause pets to bite someone out of fear. They may also run away at the sound of the loud noises. Signs of noise phobias in dogs are ears in a downward position, trembling, tucking the tail between the legs, heavy panting, or heavy drooling.

"Owners and caregivers should follow these simple tips to keep their pets safe," Norwalk Police said. "The Norwalk Department of Police Service Animal Control Division wishes everyone a happy and safe July 4."
