DARIEN, Conn. – Darien Police have identified the woman who drowned in her backyard pool Wednesday morning as Amelia McCann, 45, of Mansfield Place.

McCann was found submerged in the pool around 10 a.m. by her husband, police said. Emergency crews attempted to revive her with CPR and she was later transported to Stamford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said they believe the cause of death to be accidental drowning. An autopsy report is expected to be completed Friday.

The couple purchased the house in September 2010. According to neighbors, they had three children and the pool was first opened within the last few weeks.
