Police: Man Found Asleep In Car Charged With Impaired Driving In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — A Greenwich man found slumped over the wheel of his car on a road Thursday afternoon has been charged with impaired driving, New Canaan police said.

Peter F. Burgess, 66, of 24 Spezzano Drive, was charged with driving under the influence. His posted $250 bond, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 16.

Police said they were called just before 1:30 p.m. about a vehicle stopped in the road in the area of Ponus Ridge Road and Trinity Pass. Officers found the driver slumped over the wheel and were able to rouse him, police said.

Burgess failed the standardized field sobriety tests, said police. Breathalyzer results were not available, police said.
