NORWALK, Conn. — A man was shot death Thursday evening on Ely Avenue in South Norwalk, police said in a statement.
At 7:45 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the area of 236 Ely Ave. on a report of shots fired, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene, Norwalk police said.
The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where he died of his injuries, police said.
The victim’s name was withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
Norwalk detectives were investigating late Thursday, and the Crime Scene Unit was processing the crime scene for evidence.
The road was closed in the area, and residents and drivers were asked to avoid the area, police said.
No further information was provided by police late Thursday.
