The owner of Spectacles and another employee were helping a woman interested in buying two frames costing a total of $778 who rushed off after her debit card was declined Friday, a release from the police department said. They then noticed three sets of glasses worth a combined $1,390, missing from a display case, police said.

The suspect was described as a black female, about 30 years old, wearing a black shirt and gold earrings, and carrying a tan purse, police said. The employees also told officers that the suspect said she was leaving because she had to catch a train, police said. Officers apprehended Librea Scott, 38, who matched the description, at the train station, police said.

Scott had the sets of glasses and told police she felt bad and wanted to give them back, police said. The glasses taken were: Davis Yurman eyeglass frames valued at $645, Tory Burch sunglasses valued at $195, and Lindberg eyeglass frames valued at $550, police said.

The suspect was charged with fourth-degree larceny and was transported to Norwalk court. She was held on $2,500 bond.

Scott was arrested on charges of shoplifting from the Walgreens in New Canaan at the end of July as well.
