Police: Norwalk Man Smashed Tow Truck's Windows With Rocks

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man was charged with vandalizing a tow truck parked in the South Norwalk train station Wednesday, according to police reports.

A driver for a local towing company told police he had hidden in the Bates Court garage near the train station because of damage done to his truck in the past, police say. While there, the driver saw a man walk up to his truck and use large rocks to shatter two side windows and the front windshield, according to the police report.

The truck owner gave police a description of the suspect and the license plate of the man’s vehicle, police say. The car was listed at a Sasqua Road address, where officers found Charles Schemera, 65, of Norwalk, police say. The truck driver identified Schemera as the suspect, police say. Norwalk Police were unsure of the suspect’s motive in the incident, according to police reports.

Schemera was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal mischief and breach of the peace. He was released after posting $4,000 bond, and is due in court on Aug. 5.
