NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Officers were investigating the theft of wallets and cellphones during a party at a New Canaan home on the Fourth of July, police said.
While partygoers were swimming, someone stole their wallets and cellphones, Sgt. Carol Ogrinc said. So many people were at the party, the victims did not even know everyone there to help compile a suspect list, Ogrinc said.
A 17-year-old New Canaan male reported his Apple iPhone 4 was stolen along with his wallet, which contained $30 in gift cards, his driver's license, debit card, and $20 in cash, Ogrinc said. The phone is valued at $200.
A 19-year-old male from town also reported his Apple iPhone was stolen, Ogrinc said.
A 20-year-old male who lived at the home that hosted the party reported his HTC cellphone was stolen, valued at $200, and another 19-year-old reported $100 was taken out of his wallet, which had been moved from where he left it, the sergeant said.
All of the victims reported the incident Friday, Ogrinc said.
