The incident began at 11 a.m. Friday, when a neighbor called police to report suspicious activity at a home on West Glen Drive in an area near the Greenwich border along the Mianus River.
Stamford officers responded, and two suspects fled from the rear of the home carrying backpacks, police said.
The suspects ran into the woods, heading north, police said. Additional Stamford officers responded and attempted to track down the suspects.
After about 15 minutes, a female juvenile was located and arrested in a yard off Westover Road, police said. She was carrying a bag that was later found to have stolen property from the home on West Glen Drive, police said.
The second suspect continued to flee as the girl was captured, police said.
Stamford Police K-9’s began to track the male suspect for another 40 minutes, police said. He was pushing north through the woods toward Highline Trail, police said.
He was spotted under a deck of a home on Highline Trail, then ran into the woods once again as he spotted the officers in nearby yards, police said.
At this point, more than a dozen officers were canvassing the area of Highline Trail, police said.
He was then chased into the woods and taken into custody without incident, police said. Officers found stolen property from the home on West Glen Drive in his possession, police said.
Both suspects are 17-year-old juveniles, and their identities were withheld by police.
Each was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny, conspiracy, and interfering with police.
