Stamford police are also looking for a man who was armed with a handgun during the incident, police said.

Chantal Brivette, 20, of 79 Henry St., was arrested a few hours after the 12:30 a.m. attack after the victim identified her as one of the intruders at 71 Henry St., Stamford Police Lt. Tom Barcello said.

In a pair of mugshots released by Stamford police, Brivette appears to be crying. She will be arraigned Wednesday on charges of home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, assault, conspiracy to commit assault,  second-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

The victim was treated and released from Stamford Hospital with injuries suffered during the attack. He also identified her as one of the attackers.

"They have known each other for a number of years," Barcello said. "We have some inkling what is going on behind the scenes, but it is something we have to continue with our investigation."

He declined to release more on the motive, the other suspect, or to identify what was stolen in the home invasion.

Police arrested Brivette at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

"We were out actively looking for her and we checked her residence for her, but we had no luck there. But detectives were still out there trying to hunt her down and, in fact, found her on the street," he said. "When they encountered her, they immediately put her under arrest."

The man who lives on the fourth floor of the building went down to seek aid from a resident on the third floor and called police from there, Barcello said.
