Police were called to the home on Tuesday night after a resident returned home to find the back door was open and parts of the house had been ransacked, the Stamford Advocate reported. The house had been empty since Monday afternoon, the Stamford Advocate reported.

The homeowner discovered that her husband's watch display case had been thrown to the ground, and that between 20 and 25 watches were taken, the Stamford Advocate reported. The watches were all worth between $2,000 and $15,000, and some watches were left undisturbed throughout the home, police told the Stamford Advocate.

The thieves also took some fish out of the fish tank, as well as tank parts and accessories, the Stamford Advocate reported. There were no signs of forced entry, but there were several ladders around the house due to work being done on it, according to the Stamford Advocate.
