The three New York suspects were spotted by a security officer at the store stealing 33 handbags, which ranged in price from $995 to $2,590, Greenwich Time reported. The officer told a nearby police officer, who was working a side security job, that the three people were trying to run out the back door of the store, according to Greenwich Time.
The police officer stopped one suspect, while the other two suspects tried to leave out the front of the store but were blocked by Saks employees, according to Greenwich Time. A physical fight broke out, and the suspects began pushing and kicking, Greenwich Time reported. A security manager was punched repeatedly by one suspect before the officer was able to take him to the ground, according to Greenwich Time.
One of the suspects, 25-year-old Quandel Baldwin of Manhattan, was handcuffed, according to Greenwich Time. The other two suspects, 22-year-old Jennifer Nervil of Brooklyn and 21-year-old Hassan Carter of Manhattan, unlocked the back door and ran, according to Greenwich Time. They were eventually arrested by arriving police officers, according to Greenwich Time.
The three were all charged with robbery, assault and criminal mischief, according to Greenwich Time.
