Two Homes Burglarized, Car Stolen In Greenwich Neighborhood

GREENWICH, Conn. — After two houses and a car were burglarized in the same neighborhood, Greenwich Police are reminding residents to lock doors, keep alarms activated and call police about anything suspicious, said Lt. Kraig Gray, Public Information Officer for the Greenwich Police Department.

The suspects are still at large, Gray says, and additional patrols remain in the area while detectives continue to investigate several leads.

Police first learned about the burglaries after a Greenwich family returned to their Pheasant Lane home Saturday night to find it had been broken into and burglarized. It appeared that the suspects were interrupted in the middle of the burglary and were possibly still in the area, police said.

Additional units were called, flooding the area with patrol personnel both on foot and in vehicles. Four K9 Officers from New Canaan police, MTA police, Connecticut State Police and Westchester County police joined the search. A helicopter unit was also sent from Westchester County police.

During a house-to-house search, Greenwich police located a second home that had been burglarized on Rockwood Lane Spur. That property backs up to the first reported burglary on Pheasant Lane, according to Gray.

On Sunday morning, a separate resident on Rockwood Lane reported that their 2007 Denali SUV had been stolen from the driveway overnight, police said. The SUV was unlocked, with the keys inside, police said. This theft occurred a short distance from the two burglarized homes.

Once the vehicle had been reported stolen, it was immediately located by On Star, abandoned in Long Island, N.Y., police said. The car was successfully recovered by a local New York police department.
