Two Human Skulls Found At Stamford Transfer Station, Police Say

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The day before Halloween, a pair of human skulls were found by a worker at Stamford's transfer station, said city police, who are investigating.

The worker found the skulls while going through trash at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday, said police, who immediately cordoned off the area. Police are treating it as a crime scene.

The state Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that the skulls are human, police said. 

Officers searched the area in the transfer station and discovered a jaw bone and several books on Satan and witchcraft near where the skulls were found.

The remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday morning for further examination.

Police are trying to determine where the remains came from, possible cause of death, and how they ended up at the transfer station.

The investigation is open and ongoing. If anyone has any information on the remains, they are asked to contact the Stamford Police Detective Bureau at 203-977-4417.
