While speaking with students at Saxe Middle School on Jan. 15 about the Outback Teen Center, Barer made inappropriate and lewd comments, the New Canaan Advertiser said.
Several students who were interviewed independently corroborated similar versions of the comments Barer made to the boys in the cafeteria, including a group of girls at a nearby table, the New Canaan Advertiser said.
Barer told a different story, however, saying he called one of the students a "genius" while one of the students said he called him a "penis," according to the New Canaan Advertiser.
Barer has been charged with second-degree breach of peace and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, March 12.
