"HUGE NEWS: President Bill Clinton is coming to town on Tuesday — and you can join him!" Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo said in an email. "President Clinton will be in New Haven to rally behind our great Democratic candidates and we’re giving you a special chance to join us."

The email seeks a $5 donation, or says for a donation of $50 before Monday night, donors will get a ticket to Tuesday’s rally with Clinton.

"No matter what you give — we still need your support because the GOP is working harder than ever to defeat Connecticut Democrats and take our state backward," DiNardo said.

Malloy, the former longtime mayor of Stamford, beat Foley, a businessman from Greenwich and former ambassador to Ireland, by fewer than 7,000 votes in 2010.
