The answers are limited to 80 words and the responses are unedited.

Here are some of the questions asked by the league. Candidates for the Board of Finance were asked:

  • What special qualifications and experience would you bring to the office?
  • What would you hope to have accomplished after your first year on the Board of Finance?

And candidates for the Board of Education were asked:

  • In a joint position statement, Connecticut Association of Boards of Education and the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents have stated that the focus of both a Board and a Superintendent “must always be collaboration on behalf of children.” How do you distinguish the role of a board of education from that of a superintendent?
  • Current BOE by-laws require that the Board conduct an annual self-evaluation of its policies, practices, and internal operating procedures. Name a policy, practice, or procedure that you would like to see changed. Share your rationale.
  • What do you believe should be the top three priorities of the School District over the next three-to-five years. Explain your thinking.
