A spokesman for the 93-year-old Bush, a Greenwich native, apologized to actress Heather Lind after she accused him of groping her at an event, in front of his wife, Barbara, a Rye native, according to The Washington Post.

"President Bush would never — under any circumstance — intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind," a spokesperson for the 41st president said.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Lind said Bush touched her from behind while in his wheelchair and then told a dirty joke. He then touched her again, Lind said.

Lind, a native of Guilderland in upstate New York, said Barbara Bush rolled her eyes as if to say "not again."

The Bushes married at First Presbyterian Church in Rye on Jan. 6, 1945.
