NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan Charter Revision Commission Chairman John Hetherington is resigning from the position and from the commission, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.

He suggested Dave Hunt as his predecessor, a motion approved unanimously in a vote of the commission, reported the New Canaan Advertiser.

Explaining his reasons for leaving, Hetherington said he cannot continue to meet the post's expectations for several reasons, including that he is in the "twilight years" of his law practice, said the New Canaan Advertiser. He is also a former state representative for New Canaan.
